This job involves installing, maintaining, dismantling and repairing new and existing machinery or equipment and its components such as conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. We work in a variety of workplace settings such as manufacturing plants, production plants, construction sites and repair shops.


– perform journeyman level work

-adhere to assigned specifications and departmental safety standards

knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment used by Millwrights

– knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work

-ability to express ideas effectively orally or in writing

-read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures

-interpret drawings and perform mathematical calculations

-skill in the use and care of tools and equipment applicable to work, including mechanical and analysis equipment

-assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment

-operate forklifts, booms, low capacity cranes, and other equipment

-select and use materials handling systems

-install and commission machinery and automated robotic systems

-install, align, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to plan

-install bearings, seals and packing, pipe systems and valves, fans and blowers, pneumatic and hydraulic systems

-perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment

-routine tasks such as lubrication, seal replacement, cleaning of parts during overhaul, adjusting valves and seals, investigating breakdowns and preventative maintenance

-must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

-able to frequently handle, lift, carry and set up parts and equipment that weight up to 50 pounds (23 kg) and occasionally lift and carry items that weight over 50 pounds (23 kg)

What we are looking for:

-certified Red Seal in the trade of Millwright

-five years experience at Journeyman level

-must have a valid drivers license

-flexible to work any shift structures assigned; weekends, overtime and off shift work

-welding & fabrication experience is an asset

-willingness to travel across Canada is an asset
